A soldier is sent to retrieve a truck full of money from the wastelands of the Korean peninsula inhabited by zombies, with dire consequences.
Yeon Sang-ho's zombie virus offering has nearly as much heart as Train to Busan but the not finesse or story of Seoul Station.
It's CGI heavy, namely the car segments and it's very action shoot 'em orientated, borrowing from the likes of Escape from New York and Land of the Dead with its fight to the death scenes. That's not to say there's anything unwatchable or bad, it just lacks the execution and claustrophobic tension of its predecessors.
The acting is on point from the leads, the setups are interesting. The makeup and locations are effective. There's some creepy visuals notably zombies squashed against glass in the moonlight and Peninsula works best in these creepier intense moments.
It's an age old story of less is more, proving that a sequel doesn't necessarily have to out do the other instalments, it can happily be more of the same. Unfortunately, Peninsula goes for the former. Still, it's far more enjoyable and satisfying than the majority of films in its genre.
Overall, watch with zombie infected caution.
