Jolt (2021) Review

A woman with an anger-management problem she controls via an electrode-lined vest goes on a revenge-fueled rampage when the first guy she's ever fallen for is murdered.

In the vein of John Wick likeable actress Kate Beckinsale and director Tanya Wexler deliver an enjoyable trash b-movie premise. It has a better than made for digital look thanks to Jules O'Loughlin's cinematography but on closer inspection, it's far from blockbuster standard. That's said, Wexler and company do their best with the budget. Accompanied by Dominic Lewis’ music, Jolt is over the top, and fast-paced enough to gloss over the cracks.

Scott Wascha's twist is heavy-handed but all is forgiven thanks to cast members, (the excellent) David Bradley, Stanley Tucci and Jai Courtney entertaining small roles. The star however is delightful Beckinsale, whose quips and kiss-ass action setups are a joy to watch.
